I have a Verizon Wireless PC card – PC5740 (courtesy of my girlfriend’s work). It’s the best thing ever. If you have the money to spare, do yourself a favor and get one. I use it every time I travel. I can surf the internet while I’m in traffic – jealous much?

Anyway, since I got my new laptop I hadn’t had a chance to used it. So I installed the program and slid in the card.

And I got the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.

Nothing I did worked and everything they had about the issue on Google was over 2 years old.

I looked to see if I needed to install any Windows Updates and yes, I did. Vista Service Pack 1 was there staring at me in the face.

I installed it, put the card back in and now I’m ready to go mobile.

Since my laptop is new, I havent put all my programs on it yet. I usually get around to doing that on a “when I need to use it” basis. This morning, I was messing around and saw a new movie trailer I hadnt watched yet and needed Quicktime (I wont say what trailer cause it’s a total chick movie).

I downloaded Quicktime and watched the Mama Mia trailer… uh, I mean, watched the trailer for the Angelina Jolie movie Wanted.

A little while later, I noticed that whenever I clicked onto a web page, it took a while to load. I was going nuts cause there was no reason for it. I searched Google, disabled my firewall, plugged my connection directly into the router, and did a hundred other fixes. Nothing I did worked.

Since I have the worst memory ever, I finally remembered: I installed Quicktime.

I love Quicktime and in all the years I’ve used it, I have never ever had any sort of problem with it. But regardless, I was getting more and more frustrated and went to System Restore.

It deleted Quicktime and what do you know? I was back up and running like nothing was ever wrong.

Has anyone ever had that problem with Quicktime?

If you haven’t noticed, I changed some of the ad placements on this site – more so on UltimateRedskins.

I tried to change them around on CatPuppy but I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do with that site adwise. I’ll address that in a later post.

I found some great info on ad placements and decided to move things around. I havent been making a lot of money from my sites (I’m cool with that, it’s just frustrating hearing about the amount of money I could be making if you have the proper placements) so doing this was a no brainer. Google has a nice page about where the best placements are. Problogger has one also.

First, I removed the banners that were at the top of the pages. I then placed ad units between the 1st and 2nd posts of the site. Once you click onto a post, I kept the inline ad unit (the one inside of the actual post). Lastly, I added an ad unit at the bottom of the individual posts right before the comments section.

I’m actively looking for another ad program where I can integrate them in between posts. Anyone have any thoughts or comments on this?

I did this a couple days ago so we’ll see how it goes.

I’ve had this freakin’ headache since Saturday – 6 days!

I went out on Friday night and drank…so I originally thought it was a small hangover (I never get hangover’s – I know, I’m blessed) but when it went into the evening, I got suspicious. I had already taken some Motrin but obviously that didn’t help. So, I popped some Tylenol.

Nothing.

I bought some Excedrin and started popping them. Still nothing. I’m still in pain and now it’s Monday. Tuesday, I go out and buy Excedrin Tension. Again, nothing! still don’t know what the deal is… I just want it gone so I decide to log onto Google to do some self-research.

Apparently I had a brain tumor.

If its on Google, its true, right? I call my Dr. and get an appointment for yesterday (Wednesday). Even tumors have to wait till there’s an opening in the schedule I’m guessing.

She gives me the neurological rundown and determines that I, in fact, do not have a tumor – YES!
“You can live with the pain or I can give you medication.” Um…hello?

I’m not one for drugs but if they can get rid of this pain, I’ll do anything. She gives me a prescription for Vicodin. I’ve taken them now for a day and they haven’t really helped. They are sort of masking the pain and make me feel like I’m drunk without the alcohol. I prefer to be drunk with the alcohol.

A friend just told me I should go to a chiropractor… I guess I’ll try that. I’ll do anything.

Tension headaches suck.

Updated:
I went to the chiropractor last Thursday (the sounds I heard from my back were shocking) but I didn’t feel any better.

Friday, I went skiing and the whole ride up I was in pain. What was weird though, while I was skiing I didn’t have the headache. That night, I went out with some friends and had some drinks (Some?? Many). I woke up and felt better. What the heck?

As of today – Monday – I’m still having the headaches but not as bad. Now they are coming in waves and they are mostly in the mornings and at night.

I can’t wait till this is all over with.

Again, tension headaches suck.

I’m relatively new to blogging and especially blogging for money, so up until a couple weeks ago I had never heard of page rank – much less Alexa. Well, I think I hooked up with a girl named Alexa back in High School but let’s leave that for another blog.

Anyway, after Text Link Ads (click here for the post) denied me because I didn’t have a high enough ranking, I realized: I gotta get recognized.

So, I started my research.

Originally, I was just trying to get a Google Page Rank but then this Alexa thing kept coming up in my searches. If you’re reading this, you’ve read all the ways to get a high rank so I won’t go into it but just so you know I tried everything for about about 2 weeks. I did StumbleUpon, Technoratti, MyBlogLog, etc. I downloaded the Alexa toolbar on my laptop and my girlfriends. I still didn’t get a bump.

Then, I wrote this post on How to Hack the Verizon Voyager. I submitted it to Digg, Technoratti and StumbleUpon and then went about my usual day.

I woke up the next morning and saw that I had over 200 unique visitors. Holy Crap! I then looked at my ranking and I was listed. Already?? I was at 12, 956, 347. Ok, it wasnt the highest ranking but at least I was on the board. (Update: Since I started writing this post, I’ve since been Alexa ranked on my other two sites, UltimateRedskins & Catpuppy).

I still havent had any success at a Google Page Rank… but I’m trying. Anyone have any suggestions?

I’ve been jealous of the iPhone since it came out so when I saw that Verizon had something coming out called the Voyager that was compatible, I had to have it. It was my Christmas present to myself and I love it. It’s everything I’ve wanted in a phone and what’s the best is that I didn’t have to switch providers to get it.

Anyway, I love Howard Stern and I’ve tried and tried to listen to Sirius Radio on the phone since day 1 but finally figured out it just wouldn’t work.

Then last week, I got an idea: What if I used my phone’s blue tooth and pair it with my PDA.

The first thing I did was to see if I could get Sirius to run on my PDA. I tried it and of course it didn’t work. My friend told me about Select Radio a couple weeks back. I installed that onto the PDA and it worked like a charm. I totally recommend it. Not only can you get Sirius, you can get XM and literally thousands of radio stations.

So, with that taken care of, I now tried to link up my phone and PDA. I knew it could be done because… well, why couldn’t it? Someone in the world had to have figured out how to do it.

Well, I was right.

After many different Google searches, I was led to Mark Venture’s Verizon Phone Info Page. I did all the configurations and gave it a try.

It connected to my phone and they started to talk. Every time it would connect though, it was always asking for the username and password. In the config, it tells you what they are but for some reason it didn’t accept it.

I tried it so many times without it working, I wanted to throw my PDA off my balcony (not my phone because it did nothing wrong. the PDA is the bastard step child in this senario).

Then, somehow I found the answer – on lgvoyager.com’s wiki page (Go all the way down to the Dial-Up Networking portion). All you have to do is go inside the Voyager and hack some of its code.

This took me most of the day but all in all it was totally easy. And now I can listen to Howard yell at BaBa Booey anywhere I go.

Since this is my first post, I’ll start at the beginning of this whole sha-bang.

I’m an actor. I’ve been in some tv shows, movies and commercials. Stuff you’ve probably seen or heard of. I was going along doing auditions, taking classes and going to casting director workshops.

Then, on November 6th, the writers strike happened.

I continued to take the workshops but after that first month, I couldn’t justify paying money for something that I wasn’t sure would benefit me anything. I take casting director workshops all the time and usually get called in for an audition. But since this strike was getting worse and worse by the day, I had no idea when it would be over so I just stopped everything.

So what was I going to do in the mean time?

A couple months earlier I had created my own personal website with Dreamweaver. With the learning curve it took me about a month I would guess. It was just something basic with my photos, resume and demo reel. I had some friends who were making money on the web through Google’s AdSense. I was still new to this whole idea of making money through advertising on your website.

The more I hung out with them and did my own research, the more I felt, “I could do that.” Now let me state that they weren’t backing up the brinks truck. One friend was making about $200 a month (he’d been doing it for a while) and my other friend hasnt made his first $100 as of this writing.

So I decided to give it a try. I had nothing better to do.

I signed up for Adsense and put it onto my site. I liked the way it looked and started to get addicted to logging onto the AdSense website seeing if I had made any money. My brain started working overtime and I was hooked.

I wanted to do more. I bought my first domain catpuppy.net and tried my hand at WordPress. It’s taken me a while to learn about code and all the plug-ins and themes associated with WordPress – and I’m still learning.

Thats basically it. Since then, I’ve bought a total of 7 domains. One is totally up and running (catpuppy.net) and I’m a couple of days away from my second site being done. I’ll let you know what that is when it’s finished.

Please keep coming back for my updates, trials and thoughts on everything.

I hope you enjoy this site!
